TIMELINE
Engineering Director - Cybersecurity
- Led the Detection and Response (D&R) infrastructure and product organization, responsible for securing Alphabet from internal and external attacks. Drove cross-functional alignment with peer Directors and VPs in Security Engineering, Product, and Program Management to scale the platform used by over 300 Security Engineers (SEs) across Alphabet.
- Turned around a struggling organization from ~30 engineers to over 100 engineers across SF, NYC, Zurich, Ireland and Hyderabad. Cultivated talent, resulting in multiple senior manager and senior staff promotions.
- Founded the Google Security India Site. Designed the growth strategy, hired the initial 25 SWEs (including the India Site Lead Director, who reported to me). The site scaled to 120 employees under a year.
- Drove significant technical and cost transformation: Fully re-architected the SIEM and detection infra (ingesting 100M+ QPS), which was a Top D&R foal for 3 years. Reduced cost $50M annually (2X) while improving E2E detection latency by 4X and detection development speed by 5x.
- Led Agentic AI and Automation Strategy: Established the multi-year roadmap, pivoting D&R from reactive to predictive security operations. Launched the first fully autonomous D&R SecOps Agent, handling over 20% of human investigation tickets. Additionally, led SOAR efforts to automate an additional 10+% of cases, significantly reducing the window of compromise.
- Oversaw performance management for all Security SWEs, standardizing equitable processes across all chairs and org leaders.
Senior Engineering Manager - Social
- Managed social infrastructure connecting Google across all products.
- Led Google+ Discovery Team responsible for building new recommendation ML models; improved Google+ Graph growth by 60% YoY, reaching 1.5B/Y edges added.
- Pivoted the team to own people connections (autocomplete and suggestions) across Google Products (Gmail, Chat, Calendar etc.) and grew the team from 10 to 40+ SWEs across 2 sites.
- Built the contacts backup service for Android, backing up 200+B contacts for 500M users in 2017.
